Federal Direct Loan Exit Counseling
If students have federal Direct loans at any time while at UNF, federal Direct Loan Exit Counseling must be completed each time the student completely withdraws, unofficially withdraws, drops enrollment to less than six credit hours in a term or graduates. Federal Exit Counseling is the process by which students review and acknowledge their rights and responsibilities for all of the federal student loans that they have borrowed. Federal Exit Counseling is mandatory. Failure to complete the requirement will prevent disbursement of future term financial aid and places a hold on the student's account. This will prevent the student from receiving transcripts and their diploma.
Federal Direct PLUS Loan Credit Counseling
PLUS Credit Counseling is required if the U.S. Department of Education determines that the borrower has an adverse credit history and they have:
- obtained an endorser (co-borrower) or
- documented extenuating circumstances to the satisfaction of the U.S. Department of Education.
